Hooker Barbie
Growing up, I had a serious Barbie obsession. It went along nicely with my model horse obsession. Horse and rider together forever…… Nevermind that my barbies were always riding their horses in Princess ball gowns with slippers on. Or ballerina outfits with toes shoes and tiaras. And ya know? They never got dirty, or muddy, or had horse hair all over their dresses. True ladies, they were. But, I digress….
When my hubby and I saw this in Walmart, I was absolutely speechless. Hubby, on the other hand, immediately blurted out, “It’s hooker Barbie!”

Call me opinionated, old-fahioned even, but I can’t imagine giving a doll with fishnets on to a little girl to play with. What in the world were the toy designers thinking of when they came up with this? And what in the world was Walmart thinking of when they decided to sell it?
I would really love to hear your comments on this one, especially you guys out there.

Wow. Have you seen Bratz dolls? (the name alone will tell you something…) I think this Barbie is a nod to that whole (or should I say “ho”?) scene. Is that her pimp’s hat in the upper right corner of the box? I agree - crazy! And sad!
Wow. She really IS hooker Barbie!! Thankfully, Addie isn’t into them yet- and when she does decide to leave her baby dolls- she will NEVER, EVER be playing with a Barbie in fishnets!! I’m all for the ball gowns, horses, tutu’s- the pretty stuff!! Good grief- I’m sure Sam Walton must be turning over in his grave!!
Yeah, I am beginning to wonder…If I had a girl, would I encourage Barbie at all? I just don’t know…
